Dear Fellow Christian,

The fight for religious freedom should never be taken lightly. It’s a basic human right.

Over the past few years, the issue of religious liberty has taken center stage in America, but we must not forget that on the other side of the world, a tragic number of North Korean Christians have been imprisoned, tortured, or even killed for their faith—a plight that many of us, as Christian Americans, cannot imagine.

To stand with our brothers and sisters in Asia—who are deported to labor camps as political criminals or even killed on the spot if their faith is discovered—I ask that you please commit to joining us in prayer by signing the national We are Praying for You, North Korean Secret Believers prayer card.

Being a secret believer in North Korea is as dangerous as ever.

Despite diplomatic efforts with Kim Jong-un, the situation hasn’t improved for Christians in this isolated country, which has the world’s worst human rights record.

If a North Korean Christian’s faith is discovered, they—and three generations of their family—face prison, physical and mental torture, and even death.

Currently, more than 50,000 Christians are being unjustly held in detention centers and prison camps throughout the country. An unknown number have been killed for their faith.

Please commit to spending time in prayer and lifting up our North Korean secret believers—our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Thousands of North Koreans grow up in Christian families without even knowing it, as parents can’t risk telling their children about their faith.

Some parents wait until their children are old enough, then let them in on the “family secret.”

Some families keep their faith a secret due to the ongoing indoctrination in North Korea, as children are taught that Christians are evil spies who kidnap, torture, and kill innocent children, and then sell their blood and organs.

Many keep the secret because at school, teachers may ask if their parents read from a certain “black book.” Sharing the gospel is extremely dangerous, and parents are afraid their innocent sons and daughters may go to school and accidentally sing a song or tell a Bible story.

Most tragically of all, some believers don’t have anyone with whom to live in Christian community. Tens of thousands of children (maybe more) have become orphaned and even homeless because their Christian families were torn apart by death, arrests, or other tragedies.

Please join me in praying for these secret believers who are risking everything to follow Jesus.

While being a believer in the United States today may raise the eyebrows of some, in countries like North Korea it could mean a death sentence for our brothers and sisters in Christ.

To stand up for these believers, to support them as they face persecution we could never imagine, please commit to praying today.
