Clearly, we aren't observing Thanksgiving quite the same way that we have in years past.
From lively gatherings with delicious spreads, to making the rounds at other family and neighbor's houses so you can catch up and grab to-go plates, the sense of togetherness and community that today normally signifies has been upended by the coronavirus.
Many of us are choosing to celebrate in unconventional ways, with the health and safety of our families, communities, and country in mind. Thank you for scaling back your festivities as a way of doing your part to get COVID-19 under control.
I hope that you and your loved ones are finding ways to safely connect and express appreciation for one another, even during these difficult times.
Today, I’m thinking about families who have lost loved ones. My heart goes out to them. My thoughts are also with those that are currently hospitalized and isolated from family and friends — and the heroic frontline hospital workers who brave the dangers of the pandemic to care for them each and every day.
And finally, I want to thank you. Your steadfast support has allowed for the building blocks of progress to be laid for the South Bronx and our country. Your contributions — whether you donated $25, signed a petition, or retweeted something I said on Twitter — have been instrumental to amplifying our message and turning the page on the last four years.
Thank you, John, for everything you've done to help make this a historic campaign — and for sending me to Washington to fight for the South Bronx and our progressive agenda.
