John,
Following a Union victory at Gettysburg, and in the aftermath of the most bitter of national divisions, President Abraham Lincoln designated the fourth Thursday of November as a national holiday of Thanksgiving.
He asked that Thanksgiving be “solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American people.” Now nearly 157 years later, the need for us to come together with one heart and one voice is as important as ever.

Between the public health crisis and a difficult election, 2020 has been a tough year. But it’s my hope that we can take this holiday to remember that there’s so much more that unites us than divides us.
In that spirit, if you'd like to support community organizations with food drives this Thanksgiving, please consider making a donation to Feeding San Diego COVID-19 Response Fund, Meals on Wheels Orange County, and Second Harvest of Orange County.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Mike
