Friends,

There’s no denying that Thanksgiving is different this year. 2020 has posed incredible challenges for Americans, and many of us are now forced to celebrate the holiday physically separated from the ones we love.

Still, as we enter 2021, there are bright spots we can look to for hope. For instance, next year, Betsy DeVos, Steve Mnuchin, Eugene Scalia, and other Cabinet officials who served the interests of the wealthy and well-connected will no longer have jobs in the federal government.

In the Biden administration, we are hopeful to have an education secretary who fights for our students and teachers, a treasury secretary who uses the power of their position to lift America out of the economic crisis induced by the COVID-19 pandemic, and a labor secretary who fulfills their duty of protecting workers, especially during a health crisis. That’s something to be thankful for.

So no matter how you’re celebrating Thanksgiving today -- whether you’re cooking a turkey for the first time, getting takeout, or doing something different altogether -- take a moment to be thankful that we’re finally turning the page on a disastrous chapter in American history. And remember to follow Allied Progress on your favorite social media platform to stay up to date on our work holding the government accountable.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours,

The Allied Progress team
