John,

Thanksgiving will look different this year, but we can still celebrate the same traditions by cooking your favorite stuffing, turkey, and pumpkin pies.

While medical experts across the country strongly recommend that we do not host Thanksgiving with people from outside of our own households, we can still share the day with extended family using Zoom or any other video call technology.

I know this will be hard, but we cannot afford for people to head to a family, friend or loved one's house for Thanksgiving, contract the virus, and bring it back to their homes and communities.

With the announcement of a third effective vaccine, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Michiganders have grit, and I know we will get through this together.

Stay safe, and enjoy this Thanksgiving with your household and extended family over a Zoom call, and hopefully next Thanksgiving, we will be able to celebrate together again.

Thank you,

Gretchen Whitmer
