Mobilize with Indigenous Activists 
Protecting Our Planet, our Rights, and Our Families
Dear John,

This year, being “together” with our loved ones is tougher than ever but we are overcoming the physical distance by finding new ways to connect with one another. As families and friends come together across Zoom dinner tables to give thanks and be in community, join us in grounding ourselves in the history and current realities of our Indigenous sisters and brothers.
 
We collectively give thanks and extend our love and gratitude to the Indigenous communities on the frontlines Today, we recognize the power of their love and deep care for the land, water, and air. We stand in deep gratitude for their continued work to reclaim and protect stolen land. 
Mobilize With Indigenous Activists
We give thanks to our Indigenous sisters in Alaska, fighting to preserve the beautiful Tongass National Forest from deforestation, to our frontline sisters in the Gulf South working to respond to extreme weather events that have displaced many communities of color. In solidarity, our sisters in the north are fighting against and calling for divestment from extractive industries that are devastating the land with their tar sand extraction.
 
From all corners of the world, there are countless Indigenous activists working to protect and sustain the wellbeing of our planet. They fight to preserve the promise of a safe and sustainable future for the lands that we all occupy, and this “pale blue dot” we all call home. Unfortunately, time and time again, Indigenous knowledge is overlooked and continues to be absent from the mainstream climate solution conversation.
It is time to amplify the wisdom and knowledge of Indigenous communities. It is time to mobilize and support those courageous land defenders— often women and youth on the frontlines.
 
With your support, UAF can continue to resource Indigenous movements that center communities above all else. We stand with Indigenous leaders opposing pipelines, man camps, and violence against land defenders. Today, as you give thanks for the food on your table, the water in your glass, and the air you breathe we ask you to stand in solidarity with our Indigenous sisters and brothers. We hope you can join us in protecting our families, given or chosen, protecting our planet, and protecting these unsung Indigenous heroes.
