Each Thanksgiving, I have much to be thankful for. This year, I'm thankful to the members of this team and to be in the fight with you — across race, class, religion, and gender — for justice, equality, and a country that works for and represents all of us.
Today, I find myself thinking about the road ahead: building a country that works for and is truly representative of all of us. Because the truth is, John, we still have a long way to go until then — and the coronavirus pandemic only proves this point.
As we head towards the end of the year, millions of people have lost their jobs and health care. Students continue to fall behind in school because they don't have the support they need. Many struggle to cover rent month after month — all while thinking about how they're going to put food on the table. People, especially Black and brown folks, are stuck in detention centers, at extreme risk of contracting COVID-19 without adequate medical attention or care.
That's why today — with gratitude and resolve to fight for a better future — I invite you to join me in making a contribution to local New York organizations that are helping people affected by food insecurity and COVID-19. Will you join me in making a contribution of any amount?

Here are the three organizations I'm hoping you'll join me in supporting today:
- City Harvest is New York City's largest food rescue organization, rescuing over 100 million pounds of food a year, which they then deliver to food pantries and kitchens across the city.
- Feeding Westchester leads hunger action programs and mobilizes the resources needed to eradicate hunger in Westchester County.
- Make the Road New York provides critical support to our communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, from connecting folks to health care and services to running a coronavirus hotline for vulnerable communities.
As cases continue to rise across the nation, these organizations will need our support more than ever before.
