Friend–Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is a special day for many of us, and while the holiday season means different traditions for everyone, we know those traditions are going to look different this year. So, while this is not the holiday season we expected, I hope it is happy, healthy, and safe.

Too many Americans will have an empty place at the virtual dinner table this year after losing a family member to COVID-19.

My heart and my prayers are with everyone mourning a loss, and with those who cannot be with friends and family during the season.

Yet, our community is resilient. We saw that resilience in March when New York was hit hardest by the virus. We came together and supported one another. Donating to food banks, clapping for our healthcare workers at seven every night, and staying home (if you could). And for that reason, we must remain vigilant in keeping the virus at bay. That means wearing a mask, social distancing, and only holding virtual get-togethers.

And we need to accept that while this year will look different, friends and family are only a click away.

So during this holiday season, I hope you’ll start new traditions, call a friend you lost touch with or even play a virtual board game. We must once again draw on our resilience to keep our families, friends, and neighbors safe.

Friend, from my family to yours, I hope you have a restful and safe holiday season.

Yours,

Yvette
