Thanksgiving is a time where many of us count our blessings with friends and family. This year, like many others, my family will be celebrating differently than in years past in order to practice social distancing. It’s critically important that we do our part to slow the spread of coronavirus.
Traditionally, folks nationwide spend time on Thanksgiving reflecting on the blessings from the past year. Throughout 2020, we have seen many overcome challenges like never before. From the health care industry, and local businesses, to the agriculture sector, I'm immensely grateful for everyone's hard work. There is a lot to be thankful for, and I'm excited to share with you some of what I am giving thanks for this year.
The Health Care Sector
We kicked off this week by celebrating Public Health Thank You Day. Every member of the healthcare industry, including nurses, doctors, and scientists, serve a key role in creating healthier and more prosperous communities. This year, they’ve been asked to do more with less, and faced unprecedented challenges. Thank you for your important work, especially as we continue to battle coronavirus.
Teachers, Parents, and all Educators
Like many other parents of young kids, I have gained an even stronger appreciation for the teachers, administrators, and all others who have gone above and beyond throughout the pandemic to support our students. When our kids succeed, communities benefit. Moving forward, I’ll continue to work in Congress to equip students with the tools they need to thrive. Thank you for being partners in this effort.
Farmers, Ranchers, and the entire Agriculture Sector
We also must give thanks to all who help put food on our tables on Thanksgiving, and every other day of the year. Farmers, ranchers, and the entire agriculture sector create jobs, make our nation competitive, and fuel our daily lives. I’m proud to support legislation like the USMCA that gives them the certainty they need.
I’m also grateful for those who serve the most vulnerable members of our community, and I’m hopeful you will join me in contributing what you can to one of the 60,000 food pantries and meal programs nationwide, organizations like Meals on Wheels, or food banks.

Small Businesses and Entrepreneurs
Small businesses and entrepreneurs have been fighting hard to keep our neighborhoods prosperous throughout the pandemic. Thank you for your perseverance. It’s my top priority to fight in Congress to help small businesses reopen and stay open. Thank you for creating and sustaining jobs that give people a purpose, that give people dignity. For many, these jobs are their American Dream and that’s because of you.
U.S. Military Members
Every person who answered the call to serve our nation's military is deserving of our thanks today and every day. Many servicemembers will be spending today away from their family. Ohio's 15th District looks forward to welcoming you home. We are grateful for your service and incredible sacrifices.
Veterans
Lastly, I want to thank every veteran who gave up their time in service to our nation. Thank you for your bravery, selfless sacrifices, and investment in a better nation today, and for generations to come.
To everyone reading this, thank you for the opportunity to represent you in Congress. From my family to yours, I hope you enjoy a very happy and peaceful Thanksgiving.
