Dear members of the SAM family, This year has certainly been full of trials and challenges for all of us. The unprecedented global pandemic – which has acutely impacted SAM’s family – has forced us to think in ways that would have been unimaginable less than a year ago. Whatever impact this year may have had on you and your family, I pray this message finds you and yours safe and healthy. The fact is, in spite of the hardship brought on by COVID-19 and a vicious election cycle, there is so much good all of us can be thankful for. This year, we all found new ways work together and communicate on an incredibly important cause. Together, we both enacted and defeated policies that led to lives saved, futures secured, and families preserved. And we made some pretty incredible relationships along the way. That is something we can all be proud of. Beyond this issue and the work you all do every day, there are so many other things I am thankful for: my family, the inspiration I draw from them, and so much more. Sometimes we forget that even the little things should not be taken for granted. No matter where you are or what you are doing this week, I hope you will pause and think of a couple of simple things you are grateful for, even in the midst of so much difficulty and despair. From all of us at SAM, we wish you and your loved ones a very happy Thanksgiving. We couldn’t be more thankful to know each and every one of you. There is nothing more rewarding for me than working with you to save lives.
