John

We will stand tall, and, continue to lead because you stood with us.

All of us have traveled a difficult path this year. How we move from feeling hopeless to resiliency often depends on each of us asking hard questions about our work, our families, and, what is important. How we move from grief and loss to a place of empathy often depends on the support we receive from our communities. Gratitude for me is a powerful word, it is a deeply moving wave of hope.

Thank you for supporting States United to Prevent Gun Violence this past year. One year ago, I became the new Executive Director of States United, and it has been a year watching our affiliates embrace change, fight for democracy,  and continue Gun Violence Prevention work that is crucial in their communities. Your support has allowed us to expand our capacity to help build coalitions. It has allowed us to bring more technical support, policy support, and communications support to the States that have needed it most.

As you wonder why a Gun Violence Prevention Group might use sunflowers in a thank you note? They stand, in the midst of everything with the strongest stems. I grow many of them every summer reminding me of the villages of survivors and supporters that help us lead the way.

We are here because you cared to help.

With care and strength,

Clai Lasher-Sommers

Executive Director
