Dear John,
This Thanksgiving I want to share my deep gratitude with you. Together, we have witnessed something remarkable during this strange time.
We have witnessed outstanding courage on a daily basis from all of the nurses and doctors, from all of the cashiers and the store clerks, from all of the teachers and essential workers, and from all of the others in our community who have reached out to their friends and neighbors offering support when and where it was most needed. All these acts have made me so very proud to be a part of this wonderful city - a place where people have never failed to demonstrate kindness when it counted. Ordinary people have demonstrated extraordinary courage and compassion.
And it's been a hard year- some of us have lost dear loved ones, others have lost their businesses, their jobs, and their homes, and many people have been lonely and isolated. To all those who have sacrificed and suffered, I want to offer my sincerest sympathy. I will not forget these sacrifices. I know that this year has been a challenge and for some, it has brought great pain.
I am especially grateful to supporters like you who believed in me and who have supported me. I am humbled to be a part of your community. Together we can build a bright future. Together we can protect fundamental democratic values, demonstrate decency in our dealings with others, and push for justice for everyone.
I wish you the best Thanksgiving from the bottom of my heart.
Jorge
