Hello Community,

You might know that we’ve been planning a Facebook Live get-together for December 3. We wanted our first-ever Tributary Talk between President Maria De La Cruz and Reviving the Islamic Sisterhood for Empowerment Executive Director Nausheena Hussain to be a live, in-person conversation between these two friends and colleagues. Late last week, after Governor Walz announced <[link removed]>heightened restrictions around gatherings like ours, we decided to postpone the Tributary Talk until further notice. We’ve updated the details on our Facebook event page <[link removed]>.

The governor’s messaging has influenced our COVID-19 policies and procedures since the very beginning. As cases here now surge, Headwaters will continue to keep our Community’s safety and health at the center of everything we do. So, instead of pivoting from our original vision of filming in a studio to hosting a Zoom-style event with Maria and Nausheena each calling in from their homes, we think it’s best to hold off altogether for now.

We appreciate our event partners Katie at Claim Our Space <[link removed]> and Ryan with Free Truth Media <[link removed]>. Expect to hear more about how we plan to work together in the future.

Don't forget to visit our Tributaries project, where Maria will regularly share new stories. We want to stay connected to you, and this is one solid way we can!

We’re open to hearing your ideas about how Headwaters can continue to build community with you at this time. Email us at [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]?subject=Building Community at HFJ>.

Our offices will be closed for the holiday weekend. Whatever your plans, we hope you stay safe and continue to take good care of each other.

In Radical Solidarity,
Headwaters Staff
