It’s All About Georgia Now



Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue's Senate runoff elections in Georgia are the RJC’s top priority at this time. As the JTA reports <[link removed]>: 



With the stakes so high in the two runoff races in Georgia on Jan. 5 — control of the Senate is in the balance — the candidates on each side have teamed up to share resources.



That’s reflected in the campaign for the Jewish vote and Jewish donors. The Republican Jewish Coalition is hosting a Zoom conference on Dec. 2 for the two Republican nominees, incumbents Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, and running weekly canvassing sessions for the senators.



Matt Brooks, the RJC director, told me he has tapped the four-person team he had in Florida to help keep that state in the GOP column on Nov. 3.



“We have deployed our Florida field team to GA,” he said in an email, “activated our national volunteer base to start phone banks into GA and have raised over $200,000 via our PAC portal in a few hours after dropping the email appeal. These races are a top priority for RJC.”

There are other ways to help. RJC Leader Jeffrey Kunkes of Atlanta made the case for Senators Perdue and Loeffler in a letter <[link removed]> to the editor of the Atlanta Jewish Times. You can also use social media to amplify the RJC’s messages on Facebook <[link removed]> and Twitter <[link removed]> and help us reach a larger audience.  



Aside from the crucial question of the Senate majority, Senators Perdue and Loeffler deserve our best efforts on their behalf on the merits, because each of them is a strong pro-Israel voice in the Senate and a good friend to our community. Their opponents in these runoff elections, however, would not be friends of Israel or the American Jewish community. Here are some notable facts about Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff:  



- The Rev. Raphael Warnock... said in 2017 that the nation’s “pre-existing condition” is “racism,” <[link removed]> according to a report. 





- Warnock… notably praised [Jeremiah] Wright, a former pastor to Barack Obama, after his "God Damn America" sermon surfaced during the 2008 election cycle… Warnock was, in his own words, "dispatched" to defend Wright <[link removed]> after a tape of the 2003 sermon emerged. 



In a 2008 appearance on Fox News, Warnock was asked about that speech and other remarks. “We celebrate Rev. Wright in the same way that we celebrate the truth-telling tradition of the Black church, which when preachers tell the truth, very often it makes people uncomfortable," he said.





- During the same Wednesday event, [Jon] Ossoff told reporters that he and Warnock are running as a "team," <[link removed]> calling the pastor an "inspirational leader." The Democrat also called Warnock a "moral leader for our state and our country" at a Sunday campaign stop in Cobb County. 











































Why Georgia Matters











Keeping the GOP Senate majority is important because the Senate will be the key line of defense against the radical policies that a Joe Biden-Kamala Harris administration and a Nancy Pelosi-led House will push. Here are some of the things on Biden’s “Day One” list for immediate action:  



- Biden will grant amnesty to over 11 million illegal immigrants <[link removed]>. 





- Biden will push for radical climate change policies <[link removed]>, including re-entering the Paris climate accord and a $2 trillion climate plan that would push the US to net-zero emissions by 2050.





- Biden will eliminate restrictions on federal workers unions and strengthen unions at the expense of workers <[link removed]>.

Good News for Republicans











Scott Johnson at the PowerLine blog writes about the success that Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) has had recruiting and supporting women candidates for Congress <[link removed]> in this cycle: 



Rep. Stefanik set up E-PAC to support the election of strong conservative Republican women to Congress…Stefanik must have a good eye for talent. E-PAC’s candidates went 19 for 20 in their primaries and E-PAC maxed out to all of them. Moreover, E-PAC supported all the Republican women in GOP pickups so far. [Many of these candidates were RJCPAC endorsees as well.]  



Johnson continues <[link removed]>: 



Stefanik mentioned that several of these candidates are “firsts.” Nancy Mace, for example, is the first female graduate of Citadel and first woman in Congress from South Carolina. She must be one tough cookie. She might also be the first former Waffle House waitress to make it to Congress. 



Young Kim and Michelle Steel are the first Korean American women in Congress, Yvette Herrell is the first Cherokee American woman in Congress, and Stephanie Bice is the first Iranian American woman in Congress. If these women were Democrats, they would be on their way to celebrity status.



Stefanik also pointed out the GOP members among the incoming freshman whose families come from Communist countries: Victoria Spartz (born in Ukrainian SSR), Nicole Malliotakis (daughter of Cuban mother), Carlos Giménez (immigrant from Cuba), and Maria Elvira Salazar (daughter of Cuban parents). Malliotakis may start an anti-socialist “squad.” They all have a valuable perspective on the present discontents.































Biden Begins Naming Potential Appointees











While President Donald Trumpcontinues to contest the election result, the leadership team for a possible Joe Biden administration is being assembled.



David Harsanyi at National Reviewcomments <[link removed]> on Antony Blinken, Biden’s pick for secretary of state: 



Blinken was wrong about Israel, the Palestinians, and the prospects of peace. He was wrong about Iraq. Wrong on Iran. Wrong on Syria. Wrong on Russia. Wrong on Libya. Wrong on China. If you ever failed as much at your job, you wouldn’t have one. In Washington, you get to run the place.  



The New York Post editorial board call <[link removed]> former Senator John Kerry, Biden’s pick for “climate change czar,” a lifelong joke:



The only conclusion you can draw is that Biden, having vowed to make fighting climate change a top priority, simply wants someone who’ll look like he’s trying hard — but won’t actually get anything done.  



Senator Tom Cottonhad this to say <[link removed]> about the former Obama administration officials who are lining up for jobs in a possible Biden administration:   



“One thing’s for certain: Joe Biden’s Democratic dream team has a lot of fancy titles. They’ve worked in Washington a long time,” he said. “But credentials are not the same thing as achievement. If this is the A-Team, we need walk-on tryouts immediately.”

Outrage erupted on Twitter over the weekend after the far-left anti-Israel group Jewish Voice for Peace announced it will be co-sponsoring a panel on antisemitism featuring panelists who oppose the existence of Israel… Appearing on the panel will be Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who supports a “one-state solution” in which Israel is replaced by an Arab state; Peter Beinart, the only Jewish panelist, who has openly rejected the existence of Israel in its current form; Marc Lamont Hill, who has publicly recited the  slogan “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”; and Barbara Ransby, an academic who supports the antisemitic BDS movement.
