Personnel is policy. Every single appointment Joe Biden makes can lead to serious consequences for every single one of us. That’s why we’re alarmed to hear that Biden is considering Bruce Reed for an influential role in his administration.

Reed is known for austerity: During the Obama administration, he led a commission that recommended drastic cuts to Social Security. Reed was praising his work to cut the deficit as late as 2018!

Austerity is the absolute last thing we need right now, while people struggle to pay rent, buy food, and cover healthcare costs during the COVID-19 pandemic. If Biden appoints Reed to head the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Reed will be in charge of setting Biden’s budget priorities. We can’t let those priorities be cutting social programs during this time of need.

We’re urging Joe Biden to keep Bruce Reed OUT of his administration. Help us put the pressure on Biden right now by signing on to our petition demanding NO deficit hawks handling budget priorities.

A powerful appointee who tried to cut the strongest benefits programs we have in this country is not what we need from President-elect Biden. Not at all.
