Dear John,

We all know what it’s like to feel lonely - that aching feeling of being excluded, rejected and othered. These last nine months have been some of the loneliest in our shared history, and we are on a mission to change that with our #HomeNotAlone campaign.

Through our research and outreach, we have heard from people all over Canada who are struggling with feeling alone and lacking connection. We know that many are fearful of the long winter ahead amid COVID-19 regulations and restrictions. LGBTQI2S seniors, youth, and everyone in between have felt the loneliness of the pandemic.

As part of the Egale community, you already know the importance of togetherness. All humans need connection. We need to know that we are accepted, valued, equal and not other. Egale has been working tirelessly during the pandemic to address social isolation in the LGBTQI2S community through virtual and community programs that bring us together. We need your help to continue this critical work.

Over the next five weeks, we will be reaching out for support of our inclusion-based programs as part of our #HomeNotAlone winter giving campaign.  We will share the impacts loneliness has on our community and highlight how we can safely come together. A gift to #HomeNotAlone will help us continue to deliver safe virtual community programming and resources to foster connection, togetherness and community.

We hope you will consider supporting our #HomeNotAlone campaign with a one-time or monthly gift this winter. Your generosity this winter will help reduce social isolation and make sure that the most vulnerable in our community know that although we might be at home, we are never alone.
