Friend, For four years, Donald Trump has deployed the government to serve powerful corporations at the expense of everyday Americans. Now, despite Trump's asinine attempts to undermine the election, Joe Biden will become the 46th President of the United States on January 20th, 2021. And he needs an administration working alongside him that will fight for the public interest rather than corporate power. Unfortunately, Biden is considering nominating corporate lobbyists, executives, and consultants to his administration.1 We are in the midst of multiple crises -- from the pandemic to climate change to police brutality -- and on every single one of these issues we need progressive champions in the administration who we can trust to fight for the big changes we need to improve the lives of all Americans. Biden must decline to nominate or hire corporate lobbyists, top executives of big corporations, and prominent corporate consultants to serve in high office. Moreover, he must instead appoint people with proven track records of prioritizing the public interest. And if necessary, Biden should use tools like the Vacancies Act and recess appointments to overcome obstruction by Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans. Right now Joe Biden and his team are beginning to make key decisions about critical roles in the administration, and we need to show him and the Senate that the American people are paying attention and demand bold leadership.
