Hi there,

Yet another high-ranking Republican has COVID -- and the Washington Post reports that the "diagnosis of Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) came less than 24 hours after he had presided over the opening of the Senate, led the Pledge of Allegiance, delivered two speeches to a sparse audience -- and later moved around the crowded Senate floor after casting a vote. None of the fellow senators he encountered during his activities this week publicly announced plans to self-quarantine."

This is disgraceful. Democrats are following public health guidelines, but according to the Post, in the Republican-held chamber, "senators still must cast their votes in person on the floor, where mask use is suggested but not required. Republicans also continue to hold in-person, if distanced, lunches multiple times a week inside a large Capitol Hill hearing room; Democrats have conducted their regular meetings by conference call since March."

Republicans shouldn't get to scoff at public health guidelines in the middle of a pandemic, get sick and infect others, and then keep going to work -- and do their best to strip health care and fundamental rights from millions while they're at it. But that's exactly what they've continued to do, even as the third wave of COVID crests. We've had enough. Have you?
