Our Dispensers for Safe Water program was awarded over 957,000 carbon credits by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) for providing a cleaner and more sustainable alternative to water treatment in rural African communities.

Around the world, 1 in 3 people lack access to safe water and turn primarily to boiling to make it safe to drink. This generally involves burning firewood or charcoal, which not only creates health risks due to smoke exposure—it also contributes to rising greenhouse gas emissions.

Our chlorine dispensers provide a far healthier option for both communities and the planet. Under the UNFCCC’s Clean Development Mechanism, the carbon emissions averted by use of our dispensers can be sold as carbon credits to actors that are struggling to meet their emission reduction targets.



We immediately reinvest the funds received from these credits - over $2.25 million for 2019 - into Dispensers for Safe Water

, contributing a sustainable source of financing that helps ensure continued access to safe water for over 4 million people in rural Kenya, Uganda, and Malawi.
