Keep Up the Fight—
Pushing Back on Corporate Media in 2021!

Dear FAIR Friends & Supporters,

Over the last year, we have documented how media failed the public with their coverage of Trump lies and distortions, the Democratic primaries, the Covid-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter uprisings. It’s been a rough year.

We begin our year-end fundraising campaign with a vital goal of $50,000 ([link removed]) . Election years always diminish donations to small nonprofits, and this year the hardship of the coronavirus on everyone’s lives increased that shortfall. Now the bank account is showing signs of stress, so we’re reaching out to our tried and true friends.

Our year-end drive is the most important fundraising we do all year, the one that makes or breaks FAIR’s ability to keep doing the research and analysis our media activists expect from us. Please Donate Today! ([link removed])

FAIR’s Election 2020 project focused energy on how the press was covering this year’s crucial campaign; work from this effort got picked up around the country. Your support made this outreach possible:
* FAIR.org had over 1.8 million visitors who read more than 9 million pages of content this past year--including studies and reports that explored specific media issues and concretely informed debates.
* With more than 98,000 Facebook followers, FAIR reached people over 2 million times over the past year. Our Twitter followers have increased to more than 43,000, making more than 3 million impressions in 2020.
* FAIR’s syndicated weekly radio program CounterSpin is heard on 130 stations across North America, amplifying the perspectives of advocates, activists, researchers and independent reporters.
* FAIR’s articles and studies were quoted and republished over the past year in such establishment publications as the Washington Post, LA Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Detroit Free Press, Florida Sun Sentinel, Newsweek, Courthouse News and Rolling Stone--reaching a mainstream audience with our progressive critique.
* We were also featured in many alternative and independent outlets, like Consortium News, The Nation, Monthly Review, Common Dreams, Jacobin and Mint Press. OtherWords, a syndication service for over 1,700 newspaper and online editors, regularly syndicates our articles.

FAIR believes that democracy depends on journalism that serves the public interest. And the consistent financial backing from our family of supporters has meant that FAIR can continue to serve you with high-quality criticism of media bias and censorship.

FAIR accepts no money from corporate sponsors. We depend on you—and that’s the way we like it. ([link removed])
Each and every donation is appreciated. Please donate today! ([link removed])

Sincerely,

Deborah, Janine, Jim & Julie
