You may have missed my earlier email but I want to share some little (ok, BIG) things I’ve been thinking about since Election Day, especially as we head into Thanksgiving.
AAI, powered by supporters just like you, has done so much to stand up for democracy, civil rights, and civil liberties over the last few years. Your support meant that so many Arab Americans completed the Census, registered to vote, and voted in record numbers.
These are amazing accomplishments and will make a difference for generations to come but we can and must do so much more in 2021.
As we look to a new year and new decade AAI is already:
- building an Arab American resume bank for those interested in public service;
- working with allies and partners in the civil rights and civil liberties community to protect the integrity, availability and privacy of Census data;
- drafting guidance on congressional redistricting and the Arab American community;
- creating an Arab American framework to support democracy; and
- campaigning for better hate crime data collection and education.
Those are the BIG THINGS I’ve been thinking about which could make a real difference for our community and for everyone! And it's a lot to be thankful for.
On December 1, AAI will participate in a global day of generosity called #GivingTuesday. On that morning, I’ll email a link where you can donate to support this amazing work. Email me with your cell if you’d prefer a text reminder on #GivingTuesday.
Thanks for all you do to bring this work to life, empower Arab Americans, and make our country a better place! I hope you have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
