IJ client Stacy Jones just got an early holiday gift: her money back. In July, TSA and DEA officials at the Wilmington International Airport teamed up and used civil forfeiture to seize Stacy’s bag and the cash she was carrying on her way home to Tampa, Florida. The government never accused Stacy of doing anything wrong, yet it took an IJ lawsuit to get her money returned. Even though Stacy got her money back, IJ’s class action lawsuit will continue until both agencies end this systematic and unconstitutional abuse of travelers’ property and privacy rights.
