The GOP secured 50 Republican seats in the Senate for the next Congress -- and McConnell can hardly contain his glee.

The Senate Majority Grim Reaper is closer than ever to securing another two years in power. As Senator Chris Murphy has stated, “Mitch McConnell will force Joe Biden to negotiate every single cabinet secretary, every single district court judge, every single US attorney with him … My guess is we’ll have a constitutional crisis pretty immediately.”

Just this year, McConnell has proudly blocked Democratic legislation that would ban chokeholds and track police misconduct, despite national protests for racial justice. What’s worse, McConnell has openly laughed about his unwillingness to extend a second coronavirus relief bill for millions of struggling Americans amid the pandemic.

We know that McConnell relishes in placing the needs of the Republican Party over the needs of the American people -- and that’s exactly what he plans to do by blocking each and every one of Joe Biden’s legislative priorities.

We need to band together to make it clear that McConnell’s backward agenda has no place in Joe Biden’s America. But friend, right now we simply don’t have the funds we need to stand against the Republican establishment.

Our work relies on progressives like you who are tired of seeing fake compromises that appease Republicans on the issues that matter most -- climate change, ensuring the wealthy pay their fair share, reproductive justice, and so much more.

 

You know we’ve waited long enough. Our efforts have gotten us this far, but the only way the Biden administration can enact the change we’ve demanded is if they have overwhelming grassroots support from every day people like us. We need to ensure the GOP knows we don’t stand for its archaic agenda, even if the election is over. Will you give anything you can now to remind Mitch McConnell who’s really in charge?
