Dear John,

I am writing to you about Bristol Bay, Alaska -- my home. This beautiful place
is the home of many native communities. It is a place of breathtaking beauty, of
sweeping mountain views overlooking pristine waterways, incredible wildlife, and
one of the world’s largest wild salmon runs.

Unfortunately, it is also the proposed location for an environmental disaster
that would scar this land forever: Pebble Mine. Help stop Pebble Mine with a $10 donation now!

Last month, leaked secret recordings revealed a bombshell: The company behind
Pebble Mine has been lying to all of us for years! They lied about the
environmental impacts. They lied about their plans for the region. They lied
about the scope of the project. We now know that their stated plans for “20
years” of mining -- which itself would have caused irreparable harm to this
place and the people who live here -- was nothing more than a ploy to get their
foot in the door.

This entire time, the company was secretly planning to make the mine much
bigger, and operate for much longer -- and they had no qualms about lying to
regulators, to scientists, to local communities like mine, and to you, the
people of this country who cherish our environment.

We can’t let them get away with this. We need to urgently redouble our efforts
to stop this permit from being forced through.

Stop Pebble Mine from destroying Bristol Bay: Donate $10 or more before it’s too
late!

[[link removed]]No matter which version of the mine is built, Pebble Mine will irreparably
damage Bristol Bay’s environment and local indigenous communities -- like mine
-- that have relied on this area for thousands of years.

It will fill the waters with more than 10 billion tons of toxic waste, and
pollute over 5,000 acres of pristine Alaskan habitat. It could also decimate one
of the last remaining healthy wild salmon populations in the world.

More than 65 percent of Alaskans, and 80 percent of Bristol Bay residents --
including Native people -- stand united in opposing the mine. The only ones who
would benefit are Pebble Limited Partnership and their affiliates.

With the support of Friends of the Earth members like you, we have stood up to
the powerful advocates for the mine, and prevented this project from going
forward -- so far.

The Army Corps of Engineers delayed the mining company’s permit. But even with
all of the science on our side, and even with these new leaked video tapes, they
or Trump’s EPA could still side with Big Money and approve this project before
the Biden administration can take office. It’s up to us to make sure that never
happens.

Stop the mining industry from wiping out the world’s largest salmon run with
toxic waste from Pebble Mine! Donate $10 or more to Friends of the Earth now!

[[link removed]]Big Polluters and the Trump administration want to turn pristine, wild Alaska
into a polluted mining wasteland before the next administration takes office.
The gloves are off, and they are willing to play dirty, rig the rules, and
sacrifice our iconic places and the people who rely on them.

In this fight to stop Pebble Mine, it’s been members like you who have helped
turn the tide. You put direct pressure on Quantum Minerals, a former major
funder of Pebble Mine. You caused it to back out of the project. Members like
you have also sent over 80,000 comments to government agencies -- including to
the Army Corps of Engineers, which delayed Pebble Mine’s permit, and to the EPA,
which may be the final decision-maker.

We won’t let anybody destroy our homes for the sake of corruption and a Big
Polluter payday.

For years, Big polluters have tried to silence our voices -- the voices of
indigenous people and the residents of Bristol Bay. But we are not alone. We
know that there are thousands of people who will stand with us, who will
safeguard this place, protect America’s public lands, and take every action to
stop this dangerous mine in its tracks.

We may be approaching the final chapter in this fight. We need your help to keep
this work going.

Help us finish this fight. Support Friends of the Earth today, and let’s stop
Pebble Mine once and for all.
