Dear John,

Our elected officials cannot ignore the fact that older Americans and people with disabilities are at a far greater risk of contracting the coronavirus and requiring hospitalization. That’s why at a time when the coronavirus pandemic is raging across the country and states are reporting record-high COVID-19 cases, we need to remind sitting members of Congress that they still have a job to do on behalf of constituents like you.

Now more than ever, as older Americans remain especially vulnerable to the coronavirus pandemic, Social Security and Medicare are critical lifelines that must be protected and strengthened. That’s why I’m asking you to sign our urgent Petition to Congress today, putting pressure on them to act without delay to pass COVID-19 relief legislation that fills the gaps in Medicare coverage, improves nursing home safety, enhances Social Security, ensures access to needed protective equipment and therapies for COVID-19, and bolsters Medicaid funding.

Older adults are counting on social safety net programs for their well-being and economic security during this pandemic — and they must be protected and strengthened immediately!

So please help us urge lawmakers during this critical Lame Duck session of Congress to pass a robust COVID-19 relief package that adequately addresses the needs of older Americans. And help us stop any backdoor effort to use this crisis as an opportunity to slash funding for Security and Medicare and use these programs to pay for economic relief legislation or unrelated fiscal priorities.

Tell your lawmakers that millions of vulnerable Americans are counting on them to negotiate an additional targeted response to ensure their economic and health security. With so much at stake, please join your fellow National Committee supporters by signing our urgent Petition to Congress today!

Sincerely,

Max Richtman
President & CEO
