John,
With Thanksgiving a few days away, we just want to say one thing: THANK YOU!
As we kick off the holiday season, we want to make sure you know how thankful we are to you for believing in our vision of an inclusive democracy and betting on the power of #PeopleLikeUs.
We know that this has not been an easy year. But through the heartaches and struggles this year has brought, you’ve been a member of our NAL Family and supported us every step of the way. Thanks to you, we’ve been able to train hundreds of fierce New Americans who are ready to change the face of leadership and strengthen our communities and our democracy.

As one of our newest alum, Raie Gessesse from Minnesota shared, “The most transformative part about NAL trainings is that we are not learning how to run for office the way it has always been done. We are using our experience as New Americans to revolutionize what campaigning and serving in office means.”
People like Raie — like you — have volunteered, run and won in record numbers this year. Our candidates stepped up to help meet urgent needs and run community-based campaigns in the midst of a pandemic, rising white supremacy, and major social shifts. But despite these challenges, over 60% of our alumni won their elections! These wins wouldn’t be possible without you! We hope you know how critical you are in making this new type of politics possible.
From donating to support NAL trainings [[link removed]] , to volunteering for this new crop of New American candidates, you are making a difference across the country.
We hope you’ll keep NAL in mind on December 1st — Giving Tuesday — and chip in once more [[link removed]] to power up our work to make a more inclusive and truly representative democracy possible.
In the meantime, know your NAL Family is sending you warmth and well wishes! We hope you are staying safe and have stocked up on all that you need to whip up your Thanksgiving treats!
Onwards!
