Hey John,

OLCV is excited to announce that for the first time ever we are participating in Welcoming Week [link removed], a week dedicated to helping reaffirm that many of us are committed to building diverse and vibrant communities that are welcoming for all.

Welcoming Week is Friday, September 13th to Sunday, September 22nd: [link removed]

We are participating in Welcoming Week because we want to draw attention to the very important stories and lived experiences of our immigrant and refugee brothers and sisters. With political instability across the globe and the encroachment of climate chaos on the rise, now more than ever we must step up to welcome our new neighbors and remind them they are valuable parts of our community. Migrants, People of Color, and low income folks are at the frontline of the climate crisis, and it is on all of us to work together towards a better tomorrow.

OLCV participated in Welcoming Week events in Beaverton [link removed] and Bend [link removed]. Keep your eyes open for events in your area. If you can’t make it to an event please consider supporting a group doing work around building diverse communities in Oregon. Two great examples of such groups are Unite Oregon and Causa.

Unite Oregon is led by people of color, immigrants and refugees, rural communities, and people experiencing poverty, working across Oregon to build a unified intercultural movement for justice.

Causa works to improve the lives of Latino immigrants and their families in Oregon through advocacy, coalition building, leadership development, and civic engagement. Latino immigrants and their families are the heart of Causa and inspire, implement, and champion their work.

I hope that you will join me and all of us here at OLCV in welcoming our immigrant and refugee friends and neighbors this Welcoming Week.

Sincerely,

Marquis Mason, OLCV Engagement Organizer

Staying in touch via the Oregon League of Conservation Voters’ email list is the best way we have of keeping in regular contact with supporters like you and letting you know about the ways you can take action to protect the environment. You can [link removed] from our supporter list, but if you leave, it will be harder for you to stay involved with OLCV and continue the work that you’ve been such a critical part of. OLCV wins environmental policy fights and elections because of dedicated activists like you, and we’d hate to see you go.
