Wishing you are safe and well.

Dear John,

Growing up in a military family, I experienced my fair share of moves. So when my husband and I, our young girls in tow, settled in Chester County, I was looking forward to enjoying the fall season we all cherish here year after year. This Thanksgiving may look a little different - the girls all grown up and celebrating the holiday safely in their homes - but my love for our beautiful and caring community remains the same.

As I reflect on all I'm thankful for, I'm especially thinking of all the frontline workers who continue to care and provide for our families, friends, and neighbors in the midst of this pandemic. Please join me in respecting our health care professionals by following CDC guidelines on gatherings in the coming days and weeks. Of course, I'm also thankful for the trust you've placed in me to serve our community. To that end, I've put together important highlights of our office's work below, and I hope these updates find you safe and well over this Thanksgiving holiday.

Bringing Together Experts to Answer Medicare Open Enrollment Questions

There is nothing more important to me than the health and well-being of our community. Since coming to Congress, the number one issue in our community has been health care. Especially during a pandemic, I want to make sure we have up-to-date resources to address our families' health care needs. Please join us on Tuesday, December 3rd at 3:00pm for a telephone town hall to answer questions about Medicare Open Enrollment, which is happening now through December 7th. To participate in the telephone town hall, please dial (855) 731-4616.

We are lucky to have two special guests joining us. Bringing nearly three decades of experience with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), our first guest speaker, Sharon Graham, will talk about finding coverage that fits your family's needs. Our second guest speaker from the Social Security Administration (SSA), Edward Lafferty, will answer questions about filing claims and more. For information on coverage plans, visit www.medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE.

What We're Working On

Urging Relief for Our Small Businesses

No matter which side of the aisle we find ourselves on, we have a collective responsibility to address the COVID-19 pandemic as cases rise across every state and territory. On the House floor last week, I reiterated our community's message for Washington - hardworking Pennsylvanians need federal support to weather this crisis.

We need to pass my Paycheck Protection Small Business Forgiveness Act to expedite forgiveness for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans of $150,000 or less, which accounts for nearly 90% of PPP borrowers across the country. The pandemic has taken lives and livelihoods from so many Pennsylvanians. We have an opportunity here to contain this virus and reverse the economic fallout.

Passing Bipartisan Legislation to Address the Opioid Epidemic

On Friday, I helped pass two crucial bipartisan pieces of legislation that will work in conjunction to help end the opioid epidemic in Pennsylvania and across the country. Unfortunately, the opioid crisis has intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic, with many states reporting increases in overdoses and opioid-related deaths. There is more work to do to protect our community, especially our veterans, but this is an encouraging first step. I will continue to work in Congress and with our health care experts to support those who are suffering from substance abuse. We must collectively work to end this epidemic.

ICYMI: Commemorating Veterans Day

As one of only four female veterans in Congress, I spoke on Morning Joe about what Veterans Day means to me, my family, and veterans across the country. Let us remember that supporting veterans is not just something we do one day of the year, but rather, something we can and must do every day.

In Congress, I continue to elevate and address the issues facing our nation's veterans. As Founder and Chair of the first ever Servicewomen and Women Veterans Congressional Caucus, I've championed legislation to help increase access to lifesaving DBT Mammography, which screens for diseases like breast cancer.

Most recently, my bipartisan IMPROVE Act, which combats the veteran suicide epidemic, was signed into law by the President. Even in these divided times, I worked across the aisle with fellow veteran Rep. Jack Bergman (R-MI) to write and pass a bill that would benefit our shared veteran community.

This has certainly been an extraordinary and difficult time for many in our community, Commonwealth, and country. That's why I am profoundly grateful to The Philadelphia Orchestra for visiting with me in our Valley Forge National Historical Park to commemorate Veterans Day and for using their talents to spread a message rooted in our shared values: service to community, decency, empathy, and kindness. Delivering for Our Community: Constituent Services

It's been nearly two years since we began our constituent services operation, and we've learned a lot since then about how we can be most helpful for our community. Our dedicated caseworkers recently delivered yet another positive outcome I wanted to share with you all. Here is Sheri in Exton who recently rated our constituent services as "Excellent" and is "Extremely likely" to refer someone who needs help to our office after we gladly helped her resolve an issue with the IRS:
