Dear Friend,

Green MLAs attended farm tours last week to hear directly from farmers the impacts of climate change and tech growth on farming.

The weather is cooling down and fall is quickly creeping up on us; it's hard to believe this Monday is the first day of fall! Over the past month or so, the Office of the Opposition released their housing strategy, the Young Greens have been getting down to business, and numerous Electoral District Associations (EDAs) and Regional Associations (RAs) were formed or elected new Coordinating teams. We also welcomed three new members to Provincial Council this month: Eddie Childs as Interim Western Representative, Boyd Leard as Interim Eastern Representative, and Amandah Turner as Interim Membership and Volunteer Chair! It has definitely been a busy summer for Greens on PEI and there is a lot in store for the months ahead!

This email is meant to update you, as a supporter of the Green Party of PEI, on all things Green. So if you've been feeling out of the loop, grab a coffee and settle in for all the latest Green news.

In case you missed it, the Office of the Opposition has released the following over the past month:

"With the release of “Putting People First: A Housing Strategy for Prince Edward Island” the Opposition Caucus presents a thoughtful, meaningful and comprehensive response to solving PEI’s housing crisis. Meeting and solving this housing crisis will require a measurable commitment by government."

On September 11th, the Office of the Opposition released "Putting People First: A Housing Strategy for Prince Edward Island". This strategy outlines actions that government can and must take in the next 12 months, along with their cost breakdowns, in order to properly address the Island's housing crisis. It includes numerous action items such as regulating short-term rentals, developing innovative housing, and creating a rental registry just to name a few. The Office of the Opposition has been hard at work to improve the lives of Islanders. To stay in-the-know, be sure to follow them on Twitter and Instagram.

Electoral District Associations (EDA) and Regional Associations (RA) are a part of the Party's structure that carries out grassroots engagement with Island communities and helps prepare for and carry out election campaigns within their geographical areas during Provincial elections. There are a few EDAs and RAs formed on PEI and there are a few more in the works!

District 17 EDA hosted their AGM in August. The new Coordinating Team is Roy Johnstone (Chair), Anne MacKay (Treasurer), Sue Williams (Communications Coordinator), and Gerry Hamilton (Data Coordinator).

District 12 EDA elected a new Coordinating Team in August as well. The Coordinating team wanted to share their contact information: Laurent Beaulieu, [email protected]; Peter Rukavina, [email protected]; and Barbara Dylla, [email protected]. District 12 has decided not to plan any events during the Federal Election, but keep an eye out for future events!

District 22 EDA is having their Founding Meeting on September 26th at Trinity United Church at 7PM to elect their Coordinating Team (see Upcoming Events for more details).
