The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on our nation’s economy, one that’s felt deeply here in Central Florida. Governor DeSantis pledged back in May that he would order an investigation of our state's dysfunctional unemployment system - and that was only after Rep. Murphy requested a similar investigation by the federal government in April!
It’s been six months and he’s still not followed through on this promise. Instead, he’s spent his time backing Trump and amplifying his false claims of voter fraud. Floridians deserve better -- sign on to demand Gov. DeSantis take action to investigate our state’s unemployment system.
Recent data has revealed that:

As of October, nearly 4 million Floridians have, at some point, lost their job or been without work because of COVID-19. |

Right now, 337,000 Floridians are depending on unemployment benefits to financially survive this crisis. |

That number is ten times higher than it was on March 1st. But it still doesn’t reflect the hundreds of thousands of Floridians who have had to endure financial hardship without any aid from the state. |
Team, we can’t wait any longer. The unemployment system needs to be investigated now. That’s why Stephanie is calling on Governor DeSantis to keep the promise he made over six months ago.
