We can't emphasize this enough: the results of the Georgia Senate runoff are critical to making sure that everything we're working so hard for has a chance at becoming reality, from sorely needed COVID-19 relief to a Green New Deal.
Remember, the results of the Georgia Senate runoff elections will determine which party gets control of the Senate. And without Democratic control of the Senate, Mitch McConnell will do everything in his power to continue the policies of the Trump era.
Thankfully, there are folks on the ground in Georgia who are doing the work to turn out voters before this critical election. Many have been doing this work for years — and this time, they're doing so while navigating the complexities of and challenges presented by COVID-19.
Since 2016, Georgia Shift has been giving marginalized young people a seat at the table of democracy through electoral action, hands-on education, and civic media programs. Through training and organizing, Georgia Shift has engaged thousands of young people on legislative issues, civic education, and policy.
Georgia Equality consists of two organizations that work to advance fairness, safety, and opportunity for LGBT communities in Georgia: Georgia Equality, Inc. and the Equality Foundation of Georgia. The Equality Foundation, in particular, conducts voter registration and works to organize and mobilize LGBT residents and allies to advance equality.
