Friends,
While some may
be celebrating thanksgiving this week, others will recognize the
National Day of Mourning, acknowledging thanksgiving day as a reminder
of the genocide of Native peoples and the theft of Native lands. For a
nuanced conversation about thanksgiving you can check out this podcast
episode: ‘ThanksTaking or
ThanksGiving?’. You can also check out this article about what
thanksgiving means to the Wampanoag community here in
Massachusetts.
I also wanted
to take a moment to introduce myself as the new 350 Massachusetts
intern! I am originally from the Berkshires and recently graduated
from college with degrees in environmental studies and photography. I
am passionate about food justice, gardening, protecting rivers,
advocating for Indigenous rights, and stopping fossil fuel pipelines.
I also love bees! I am really excited for this opportunity to get to
know you all and support the work you are doing across the state!
In Solidarity,
Julia St.Clair
