WATCH: President Trump delivers remarks for first time since November 5th, celebrates stock market success. "'That is a sacred number,' said Trump, who has long fixated on the stock market as the barometer of his administration’s economic performance. 'Nobody thought they'd ever see it.' [...] 'I'm very thrilled with what has happened on the vaccine front,' Trump said, with Pence by his side. 'That’s been absolutely incredible.'" (POLITICO) • President Trump celebrated the Dow crossing 30,000 points today with a short speech at the White House. That's an all-time record for the stock market, and it's the President's first public remarks since his November 5th press briefing.
• President Trump also said he was "very thrilled" with the recent developments in COVID vaccines. His administration's Operation Warp Speed helped support vaccine development and will help with vaccine distribution.
• Yesterday, the President tweeted that he had directed the General Services Administration (GSA) to start the "initial protocols" for Joe Biden.
Georgia has already received more than 750,000 absentee ballot requests for the January 5th election. "The move comes amid a surge in absentee ballot requests in the runoff elections. Officials said that as of Monday morning 762,000 requests for absentee ballots had been submitted." (Fox News) • Georgia's January 5th run-off elections will determine which party holds the Senate majority next year. The Senate is currently split 50 Republicans to 48 Democrats. The remaining two seats will be decided by run-off elections; right now, both seats are held by Republicans.
• Georgia has already received more than 750,000 absentee ballot requests for the January 5th election. As of Monday, the total was 762,000 -- and will likely only increase.
• Unlike some states, Georgia did not automatically send ballots to all registered voters and will not do so for the January 5th election; instead, voters must request absentee ballots.
• The Georgia State Election Board also voted this week to allow secure, "24/7 monitored drop boxes" to be used for ballot collection for the January 5th election. Those were in place for the 2020 presidential election, too.
Georgia begins its second recount of the presidential election today. "Beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Georgia's 159 counties can start recounting the approximately 5 million votes cast in the presidential race after the Trump campaign requested a machine recount. But while they're tasked with finishing this third count by midnight Dec. 2, the secretary of state's office is urging counties not to sacrifice accuracy for speed." (ABC) • Georgia started its third count -- and second recount -- of the presidential election results this morning. The recount will continue for the next week and must be finished by next Wednesday, December 2. The Trump campaign had requested the recount over the weekend.
• Georgia previously finished a by-hand recount of the presidential race. During that re-count, almost 6,000 previously un-tallied ballots were discovered, and President Trump picked up roughly 2,000 votes in the state results. However, Joe Biden still remained ahead.
• There is also a recount underway in two counties in Wisconsin. Right now, the recount there hasn't been in the headlines, but 386 previously un-tallied ballots were reportedly discovered today. The margin between President Trump and Joe Biden in the state is currently 20,600 votes.
