All year long, we’ve watched people like you pressure elected representatives, attend protests and direct actions, and stand with communities under attack. It’s been a welcome reminder that progressive change is possible.

Part of that change involves simply getting out the word — on TV and the radio, in mainstream and movement media, and in the state and local papers read by millions.

Thanks to your help, IPS has had its most successful year in media to date.

In this year of national crisis, our experts and ideas appeared over 1,977 times in the media, transforming the conversation on poverty, inequality, racial justice, and militarism. We’ve changed the narrative in mainstream media, kept movements informed in progressive media, and shaped the coverage in environmental and financial outlets alike.

And, unlike most other progressive groups, IPS has also reached deep into rural areas and heartland cities to reach tens of millions of people who would otherwise never hear progressive ideas.

Alongside our national media work, we helped place over 2,200 syndicated op-eds in papers big and small this year, reaching over 10.5 million print readers — and nearly 79 million more online. Millions of these readers live in politically competitive states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, as well as Arizona and Georgia.

Below is a snapshot of 10 of our favorite media hits from 2020. Please support IPS today so we can continue carving new spaces for victories in the years ahead.
