In a typical year, many of you would be packing the car right now, trying to get a jump on Thanksgiving traffic, and looking forward to seeing extended family and friends. But this year has been far from typical. It has been trying, and the holiday season feels very different.
Still, as I reflect on the year, one thing remains the same: I am, once again, thankful for all of you. Despite the many justifiable reasons to be caught up in your own lives this year, you showed up again and again when the country needed you. This year:
- 27,000 of you volunteered for more than 160,000 hours to expand and protect the right to vote.
- Hundreds of you signed up to be part of our Racial Justice Task Force to support racial justice protests, combat police brutality, and promote policies to further racial justice.
- Hundreds more of you joined our Nonprofit Relief Task Force, helping 63 nonprofits weather the COVID crisis by applying for federal relief under the CARES Act.
As I look toward 2021, I know challenges remain. But I also know that you all will show up again and continue to make the nation we love more just and equitable. As always, you can browse the latest volunteer opportunities for lawyers here, and we’ll let you know about new projects as they come in.
I hope you have a safe and joyous holiday season, and that despite the trials of this year, you still find reasons to be thankful. For us at We The Action, we’re thankful for all of you and the historic impact you made this year.
With sincere gratitude,
Sarah Baker
