It’s been reported that the Biden Administration is considering Rahm Emanuel for a cabinet position -- even though he actively participated in the coverup of the police murder of Laquan McDonald. That is completely outrageous and, honestly, very hurtful.

I believe the Biden Administration is sincerely committed to dismantling systemic racism. Giving Rahm Emanuel a cabinet position would threaten that vital work. If you agree, please sign our petition.

Rahm Emanuel’s active participation in the coverup of Laquan McDonald’s murder is disqualifying on its own, yet he did far more to harm Black and brown communities during his time as Mayor.

In his first year, he closed more than half of Chicago's public mental health clinics. Those clinics disproportionately served Black clients, and their closure caused a spike in mental health crises leading to psychiatric hospitalizations.

In 2013, he closed 50 public schools — the largest school closure in United States history -- most of which were in Black neighborhoods.

And in his last stint in the federal government serving in President Obama’s Administration, Rahm tried to weaken the Affordable Care Act.

His actions were unacceptable then, and they’re even more unacceptable now in the Democratic Party of 2020.

Please sign our petition to make sure the Biden Administration knows where you stand: Rahm Emanuel should have no place in a Biden cabinet -- or anywhere in the Administration, period.

Thank you for standing with us. Defeating Trump was a huge victory for our movement, but our work is not over.

Onward,
