Look, coming from a long line of farmers and public servants, I have deep roots in the rural Midwest.
I’m the granddaughter of a hog farmer, the niece of dairy farmers, and the cousin of angus farmers.
But my grandfather was also state legislator.
What I remember about him was that he was tough, he had a great sense of humor, and always carried butterscotch hard candy. And I remember my dad’s stories about what a strong man he was and how he stood up for the right things.
My parents, too - a journalist and a preschool teacher - showed me the importance of fighting for what truly matters to your neighbors and your community.
I brought these lessons with me to my career in journalism and now to my job as a Democratic Congresswoman serving in a Trump district.
But I won’t be able to keep fighting for working people if I lose my seat to a Republican in 2020.
So, I need you standing with me. Can you chip in, even just a few dollars, to my campaign? It would mean the world to me.
I’ve always tried to live by the saying “We were born with two ears and one mouth for a reason.” And I believe elected officials in Washington need to do a better job of listening.
Because everyone really just wants the same things: a good paying job, an education for their children, and affordable health care for their family.
I’m committed to fighting for hardworking families, and to electing Democrats across the country who will join me in this fight.
But in order to do that, I need your help. Help me stay competitive and raise $5,000 by Sunday. Chip in any amount today >>
Thank you so much for your support.
