This is unbelievable. Ilhan Omar has already been subjected to an incredible amount of hate based on nothing other than who she is as a human being — and now, Trump is stoking that dangerous racist hatred with brazen lies.

In an early morning tweet attacking the Squad, Trump reposted a video from a right-wing blogger that claimed Ilhan was “partying on the anniversary of 9/11.” But that is completely fabricated.

The video that was posted was from a completely different event on September 13th, 2019. But that didn’t stop Trump from spreading fake news, and even after multiple people have pointed out the lie, he still hasn’t pulled the video down.

This is just another installment in Trump’s series of endless attacks against the Squad — because they represent an America that he resents, but an America that all of us deserve.

Trump will do everything in his power to try and stop our progressive movement. If we’re going to win Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and an end to this inhumane system of mass incarceration and deportation, we can’t afford to back down from the fight.

Even if Trump and Republicans are willing to play dirty, to weaponize racism, and to use hatred to suit their partisan interests, we’ll never stop this campaign for real progressive change. Democrats should lead with a crystal clear message about the purpose of Trump and the GOP’s racism: divide-and-conquer, hate for profit.
