City Council encourages businesses to apply for financial support

Nottingham City Council has opened applications for financial support for businesses affected by the tiered lockdown system and national lockdown.

The grants, launched by Government along with the tiered system of restrictions across the country, are designed to support businesses forced to close or which have seen an adverse impact as a result of the restrictions to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

There are four grants available for a variety of businesses in the Nottingham City boundary: for those businesses affected by national lockdown, tier 2 restrictions, tier 3 restrictions and discretionary grants. In order to simplify matters for local businesses, the City Council has developed a grant system which means Nottingham businesses will only need to make one application to cover all grants they are eligible for.

More information, including the application form for grants, can be foundon our*Business Grants webpage* [ [link removed] ].

*REAMIT invites agri-food businesses to be**part of the future of UK and European food supply chains*

Nottingham Trent University, partners of the *REAMIT* [ [link removed] ]project, are inviting agri-food businesses to participate in our technology demonstrations which would reduce food waste. Our aim is to support your business (at no extra cost to you) by saving you time and resources.

The REAMIT project team would like to support companies in maintaining food quality without human intervention through the use of technology - this is even more important as we face the challenges of COVID-19.The system works by fitting sensors in warehouses, retail stores, food pallets and/or trucks to monitor food quality around the clock. REAMIT will also analyse the data for you to support your rapid supply-chain decision making.

REAMIT is offering a free service to businesses to trial this technology to improve your business operations and to reduce food waste. This is an initiative funded by Interreg North-West Europe to encourage resource efficiency of fresh-food supply chains.

REAMIT
*What are we offering? *

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses are seeking new ways to improve their revenue streams whilst ensuring food safety and delivering high-quality food to their customers. We believe that REAMIT technologies could make significant difference in the way your business operates. We offer a free service to any part of the food supply-chain, from the supply side to demand points.

If you are interested in finding out more or to discuss your participation in this exciting project, *please get in touch with us via our email address <[email protected]>*, we can then plan our demonstration of the technology at a time and place which is convenient to you. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

*Could you work with us toreduce digital poverty in Nottingham?*

Digital Poverty

There is a growing divide in Nottingham between those who have access to information and communications technology and those who do not.

This means that many individuals and families in the city do not have the access to opportunities, knowledge, services and goods that many of us take for granted. With your support, the Reducing Digital Poverty Project from Nottingham City Council andNottingham Jobs aims to raise 126,000 to purchase 150 brand-new laptops, plus free Wi-Fi for 18 months, for some of Nottinghams most digitally deprived residents.

*Together we can give people access to the increasing range of services available online, including food delivery, education, employment services and job searching.*

This is initially a pilot project but we are hoping that if successful we can build on our
partnerships and continue to support the residents of Nottingham to close the digital gap.

*When we reach our goal, each recipient will receive:*

* A brand-new ready-to-use laptop with Microsoft and safety features
18 months Wi-Fi
* Access to courses which show them how to best use the device and stay safe online
* Opportunities to access the free employment support offered by Nottingham Jobs

Were off to a great start but we still need your help
We have already received support from local businesses such as Impression, an outstandingforward-thinking tech company based here in Nottingham who have donated laptops to support the project and are looking to continue their support in the future.

The information gathered will give us important insight into the sector in our

continue to support the ecosystem to be more progressive, inclusive and diverse.
