Monday Nature Mystery

We are pleased to announce the winner of last week's Monday Nature Mystery, Kerry Bartoldus Bzdyk!

Way to go Kerry! There are over 90 species of oaks in the continental United State and they can be tricky to identify. The turkey-foot oak (Quercus laevis) got its name as the leaf resembles a turkey’s foot. They can be found in Virginia, south to Florida and in southeastern Louisiana.
