Adopt a Turkey Project

Dear John,

Compassion saved Venus.

The young turkey was slated to become someone’s Thanksgiving meal. Had all gone to plan, this affectionate, funny bird would have been slaughtered at an industrial facility—with all the horrors that entails—at just a fraction of her lifespan.

Luckily, Venus was spared by a local rescuer.

Today at our Los Angeles Sanctuary, she’s learned to trust again. She loves to be cuddled by humans. She’s also assertive, and regarded as the “champion” of her flock.

This Thanksgiving, join us in paying it forward.

“Adopt” Venus today!

For a one-time donation of $35, you can sponsor this loveable turkey. We’ll send you a digital certificate featuring her photo and her story. Print it for yourself, to display on your Thanksgiving table. (We also offer a print certificate that we can mail to you; however, please note that it will not arrive before the holiday.)

It’s a warm reminder of the power of compassion to make the difference between life or death.

Adopt a Turkey Certificate

Venus is a heritage bird with bronze feathers—unlike the majority of white-feathered turkeys raised for food. Whether turkeys come from factory farms or smaller establishments, though, they face similar cruelties. One example: Venus had part of her beak cut off at a young age, to discourage pecking at other birds.

Today, she’s living out her life in freedom, sunshine, and fresh air. Heritage turkeys can live up to seven years, if given proper nutrition and care. And we’ll make sure that Venus receives every comfort from here on out.

Adopt Venus

At Farm Sanctuary, we have been rescuing and advocating for factory farm animals for over three decades. Meet the other turkeys you can “adopt” this year:

Jackie

Jackie "The Queen"

Jackie was anonymously left at our New York Sanctuary when she was a baby, having been debeaked at a factory farm.

Adopt Jackie
Sandy

Sandy "The Sweetheart"

Sandy survived a fire; after being brought to us with a painful foot infection, she’s now healed completely and loves to lounge in people’s laps.

Adopt Sandy
Ferris

Ferris "The Hotshot"

Ferris was rescued from a feed store, after being shipped through the mail at just a few days old.

Adopt Ferris
Tutu

Tutu "The Charmer"

Tutu was rescued from a live poultry market in New York City and came to us bruised and scraped from the slaughterhouse where she was raised. Today, she is safe, with access to fresh air and green pasture.

Adopt Tutu

Or, for a one-time donation of $150, you can adopt our whole flock: an invaluable contribution that enables us to provide costly veterinary care for the special needs that our animals present.

Adopt the flock!

Thank you for your compassion and support, as always.
