Friend,

In less than two months, it will have been a year since the first positive case of COVID-19 was reported in the United States. It's been a long ten months – heartbreaking and challenging, as well as historic.

To help our city get through the virus together, Mayor Levar Stoney declared Richmond the Capital of Compassion. That means caring for others as we would ourselves, fighting for equity and justice, and channeling our gifts to lift up our neighbors.

Since the beginning, Levar has made the city's mission to center compassion in everything it does. And now with Thanksgiving this week, we hope you will join us as we support our neighbors who need it most:

Please visit our RVAStrong website to support the organizations on the frontlines of this pandemic. You can also choose from the causes listed to find specific ways to donate or volunteer. » [link removed]

Here are a few more organizations we wanted to highlight:

• Happily Natural, an organization dedicated to increasing food security by building resiliency gardens during COVID-19 to support our community. Learn more and support their efforts here. » [link removed]

• Nolef Turns Inc., a non-profit organization committed to helping reduce recidivism by assisting those with justice involvement successfully thrive post-conviction. You can support their mutual relief fund to help Richmond families directly impacted by COVID-19. » [link removed]

• Sacred Heart Center, an organization dedicated to supporting our local Latino community, has been rushing resources during COVID-19 to families across the city. Support their efforts here. » [link removed]

From local organizations and nonprofits to individuals stepping up and helping out their neighbor, we will get through this together. Richmond is a resilient city, so thank you for being RVAStrong.

Thank you,

Team Stoney
