On Monday, the USS John Finn (DDG-113) successfully intercepted an ICBM target with an SM-3 Block IIA missile during a Missile Defense Agency intercept test. The SM-3 Block IIA was originally designed to intercept medium- to intermediate-range ballistic missiles from Aegis BMD ships and Aegis Ashore sites. The successful intercept test is a key milestone for the SM-3 Block IIA to become a second intercept capability, under the Ground-Based Interceptors (GBIs), in a layered homeland defense architecture.

On Thursday, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy received a new air-carrying warship. The ship, named the Rudaki, is equipped with a phased array system, missiles, and the Khordad-3 missile system.

Also on Thursday, it was announced that Hungary had agreed to buy NASAMS air defense systems. The system is set to be delivered in 2023 and comes as Hungary undergoes a modernization of its military capabilities. 

On Monday, it was announced that Yemen’s Houthi group fired a missile at a Saudi Aramco distribution center in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The attack was carried out by a Quds-2 type winged missile.
