Dear Friend,

Have you made your plan to go vote? Early voting is open now through Saturday. Nov. 28th, 8:30am-6pm (with the exception of Thursday and Friday for the holidays).

There has been some confusing messaging recently surrounding Proposition 2 and how it will affect our library system and fund early childhood education. The reality is that our city faces unprecedented revenue losses, furloughs, and reduction of City services as a result of COVID-19 and currently, the library has nearly $15 million in reserve or "rainy day" funds.

This rededication of funds is calculated based on actual costs, expenses, and needs across the city and within the library system.

$14.5M is crucial revenue our city desperately needs right now. Your tax dollars should not be sitting in reserves. We have many needs like repairs of roads, housing, and income security.

Without question, a "Yes" vote will support the expansion of high-quality early childhood education, which we know is one of the most important investments a community can make.
