Statement from GOP County Chair Karl Simmeth Calling on County Executive Mark Poloncarz to pick up the pieces of his failed administration and get to work
Buffalo, NY - Chairman Karl Simmeth of the Erie County Republican Committee saying Mark Poloncarz is failing Erie County:
“Simply put, Mark Poloncarz has had the better part of a year to get the County Government ready for this holiday season. He has not.
Across the state in places like Monroe and Onondaga Counties, their county Executives are directly assisting schools to stay open. As reported by the Buffalo News, Poloncarz has refused; blocking schools from purchasing tests through the county license. Additional reports of slow test results and even slower covid-19 contact tracing are especially concerning when coupled with Poloncarz attempt to use law enforcement to restrain taxpayers this holiday season.
Where are the statistics that say restaurants are the chief concern of the spread? Businesses have invested in protective measures, workers have adapted to disinfect and keep their customers safe.
The buck stops at the desk of the County Executive, and Mark Poloncarz's inability to staff his Covid-19 tracing sites has no excuse. His administration failed to prepare for this moment that we all knew was coming. Western New Yorkers have been patient - it’s time for Poloncarz to pick up the pieces of this failed administration and get to work.”
