Dear John,

You're invited to join us for a virtual discussion on Thursday, December 10 at 6 PM EST with Abbe Smith and Paul Butler about Smith’s latest book Guilty People.

In Guilty People, law professor and longtime criminal defense attorney Abbe Smith gives us a thoughtful and honest look at guilty individuals on trial. Smith demonstrates how the defense must navigate through a complex criminal justice system that is not always equipped to recognize nuances. The book challenges the notion that the guilty are unworthy of humane treatment or compassionate legal defense.

Smith will be in conversation with Paul Butler, a former federal prosecutor, legal analyst for CNN, MSNBC, and NPR, and Professor at Georgetown University.

You can RSVP here. The book will be available for purchase, and a short Q&A will follow the moderated discussion.

We look forward to seeing you then!
