FAMES REPORT: THE FAMES COMMITTEE REMINDS ALL ROADWAY WORKERS THAT
HISTORICALLY AN INCREASE IN ACCIDENTS OCCUR DURING THE 4TH QUARTER.
November 17, 2020: At 1430, one roadway worker was fatally injured and
another seriously injured while working on non-controlled track for a
short line railroad when a train collided with a truck and backhoe at
approximately 20 mph.

The fatally injured employee was 56 years old with 3 years of service.

While this recent case has not yet been analyzed, the FAMES committee
reminds all roadway workers that historically an increase in accidents
occur during the 4th Quarter. Roadway workers must ensure the proper
protection is in place and a proper job briefing is conducted prior to
beginning work. If the job or situations change a job re-briefing must
be conducted.

Let's work together and watch out for each other, so we can save lives!
