John --

Good afternoon and welcome to our Weekend Update.

The Trump Campaign has and continues to raise important questions about the 2020 elections. I gave a floor speech on the many irregular activities that occurred during the course of the election in Pennsylvania and the importance of the integrity of the election. We have several outstanding challenges and issues that must be addressed with regard to the 2020 election. I spoke about the highly irregular action of allowing ballots to be counted that arrived after 8 pm on Election Day. Secondly, I discussed how the Pennsylvania Secretary of State created a system where some counties were curing defective mail-in ballots and others didn’t. Third, Republican poll watchers in Philadelphia were not given proper access to observe the ballot canvassing. In order to have a strong democracy, we must ensure we have honest, lawful and fair voting processes in place.

As I said in my floor speech, "Along with a fair election of the President of the United States, what is at stake is the integrity of our election process and the faith the American people have in it." Please click here to go to my official Facebook page to view my speech.

The Pennsylvania State House has passed a measure sponsored by State Representative Jesse Topper, which will require the non-partisan Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to coordinate an audit of our election process. This will allow a greater look into the electoral process in Pennsylvania and hopefully answer some of the questions that have arisen.

During my first term in Congress, I was tasked with being the liaison for the GOP Congressional delegation to the Pennsylvania state legislature. Having experience in Harrisburg as our State’s Revenue Secretary, I know how critical it is for our elected officials in Washington and Harrisburg to work together in the best interests of all Pennsylvanians. It is even more important now as we all work to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

The State Senate and House held leadership elections last week. I want to congratulate members of the House Leadership team, including Speaker of the House Bryan Cutler, Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff, Appropriations Chair Stan Saylor, Whip Donna Oberlander, Policy Committee Chair Marty Causer, Caucus Chairman Mike Reese and Caucus Secretary Martina White. I especially want to acknowledge our good friend Caucus Administrator Kurt Masser.

In the State Senate, members of Senate Leadership include, Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman, Majority Leader Kim Ward, Appropriations Chair Pat Browne, Caucus Chairman Bob Mensch, Caucus Secretary Ryan Aument and our good friend John Gordner will continue to serve as Majority Whip.

I want to congratulate my friend Senator Jake Corman on his nomination to the important position of Senate President Pro Tempore as well as acknowledge the historic election of Pennsylvania’s first female majority leader Kim Ward. Kim will do a fantastic job as she is a problem-solving conservative. I also want to recognize and congratulate State Rep. Joanna McClinton’s election as the Democratic minority leader.

I also want to send congratulations to our Treasurer-elect Stacy Garrity and Auditor General-elect Tim DeFoor on their historic victories. Tremendous statewide victories and great news for our Commonwealth.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T READ IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: I have and continue to support President Trump, because when he says he is going to do something... he does it! The President's Operation Warp Speed has delivered. Every other nation has no plan to address the Covid-19 pandemic or are simply waiting for the United States to lead... and we have.

To date, we have multiple vaccines that are awaiting emergency FDA approval and they can be delivered to Americans in short order. The President's timeline on the vaccine was true and correct. Unfortunately, many in the media denigrated the President's forecasting of when we could expect a vaccine regularly. Such political posturing is harmful to society and we need to continue to point out these things when they occur. I will never hesitate to call out the left's deliberate dishonest misrepresentations for political purposes.

What is frustrating, yet not surprising, is that the Democrats continue to ignore Operation Warp Speed's extraordinary success. Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Kamala Harris, former President Barack Obama, Governor Andrew Cuomo and other members of the extreme left have clearly prioritized their own power over the greater good of the health and well-being of the American people.

The mainstream media and political pundits continue to falsely claim U.S. fatalities are the worst around the world.

The left's consistent efforts to blame the President for Covid-19, even manufacturing false claims, was a plan to damage him ahead of the election. The media and left blame the President for his handling of the virus, yet ignore the other countries around the world that are far worse off than us. In fact, many on the extreme left hold these other countries up as models to follow.

This week, I spoke on the House Floor to outline the importance of improving the Registered Apprenticeship system. In the last 10 years, the number of Americans entering apprenticeships has more than doubled. The Registered Apprenticeship system must be reformed. American workers and employers need a new system as innovative and dynamic as the American economy.

It is also notable, contrary to all media forecasts, Republicans did pick up 14 seats and still counting. It looks as though 222-213 or perhaps better. Of course, we are disappointed that we did not have all the pick-ups we worked for of House seats in Pennsylvania, but the seats we did gain are very important and gives us very good reason to believe we can win the U.S. House in 2022.

Another big story from Election Night was the fact that Republicans control 50 of the 100 U.S. Senate seats in the chamber, while the Democrats have 48. Again, the mainstream media and public polling predicted that the Democrats would take control of the U.S. Senate. With that being said, we must protect our Republican majority. There are two seats, both in the state of Georgia, that will be decided on January 5. Our Republican candidates, U.S. Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler need our help. I have made a personal donation and a donation from our campaign fund of $35,000 to the Georgia Battleground Fund. If you would like to donate further to these very important elections, please click here.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you soon.
