This is really, really bad? ? ? ? ? DEVELOPING? we've reached out this past week with alarming new actions the Trump administration is taking in his final weeks in office ? including firing scientists, opening the Tongass National Forest to logging, and moving to sell off land in the Arctic Refuge to oil interests.

There's just been a major new development. The Department of the Interior has just announced a plan to rollback offshore drilling safety standards in the Arctic Ocean, opening the door to riskier drilling practices and the prospect of an oil spill in the most pristine, remote, and stormy waters ? where a clean-up would be all but impossible.

If they can push this rule through ? it will be an environmental nightmare.

We need your help. Stopping the Trump administration is going to take all of us, but if we can block him ? even for a few weeks ? we win. The truth is, after months of must-win political fights ? we need your help to keep this campaign going.

This is an incredibly dangerous time for the environment. With the election over, Trump has virtually zero accountability to the public anymore. Our teams are expecting imminent announcements to suppress science across federal agencies, gut the Endangered Species Act, and create new loopholes to allow oil, gas, and coal companies to avoid royalty payments owed to taxpayers.

Voters turned out in historic numbers, especially voters of color and young voters across the country. We voted for a just and equitable future that puts communities ? including Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color, as well as low-wealth communities most impacted by intersectional environmental injustice ? at the center of solutions.

Bottom line, we beat Trump fair and square ? and it was only possible because of people like you.

I hope you'll step up again ? because it's the only way we have a shot at stopping him from wrecking the environment on his way out the door. We only need to hold him off for a bit longer. Any roadblocks the environmental movement can put up ? whether it's through legal action, campaigning, or preparing the Biden administration to reverse course ? we win.

The best thing you can do to help right now is to make an emergency contribution, even if it's just $5. Every dollar will be triple matched ? [link removed]

We'll keep you updated as this story develops. As always, thank you, friend for everything you do for the environment.

Sincerely,
