What we feared is coming true – Trump is using his lame-duck presidency to enact deeply harmful regulations before he leaves office. We need you to get involved now to ensure that the Biden/Harris administration is prepared to turn back these dangerous changes on their first day in office.
With just weeks remaining, the Trump administration is pushing through dangerous rule changes that threaten the financial security of hundreds of thousands of Social Security recipients. These last-minute changes will make it harder to apply for Social Security benefits, and harder to keep some benefits once you’re signed up. It’s a cruel, senseless policy, led by Trump appointees with a reputation for cruelty.
It’s critical that the Biden/Harris administration immediately undo these rules when they take office, and remove Trump’s Social Security appointees.
This move is part of a wave of last-minute Trumpist regulations designed to kick people off of the benefits they need to survive – but if we act now, the Biden/Harris administration can stop them on Day 1.
The Trump administration proposal would require millions of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries to re-prove their eligibility for benefits as often as every six months – far more frequently than is currently the case.
There’s no justification for this policy. The United States already has some of the strictest eligibility criteria for disability benefits in the world. The Trump administration is working to enact this cruel policy with no regard for human life.
We need the Biden/Harris administration to understand what’s at stake if they were to let these new regulations linger too long. Tell them to act right away. >>
